Optimising and Prescribing Vegetable Oils for Different Skin Types - Day 2

A One-Day course with Mike Harmon (Course creator: Kolbjorn Borseth)

Overview:

This advanced course combines theory and practice and is a very intensive course during which we make a lot of professional products that can be for your own use, sold to your therapy clients, or sold commercially to the public. A comprehensive range of course materials are provided for each student and several products made during the practical sessions are for students to take home. The Course covers new information on the appropriate raw materials for different skin types - you'll find out which Vegetable Oils, Essential Oils, Vitamins, Botanical CO2 Extracts, Hydrolates, Herbs, Tinctures, Peelers & Exfoliates, Moisturisers and other active ingredients to use for OILY and COMBINATION SKIN TYPES as well as for SCAR TISSUE and STRETCH MARKS. Kolbjorn’s book, The Aromantic Guide to Unlocking the Powerful Health & Rejuvenation Benefits of Vegetable Oils, which is selling very well, will be part of the course literature for this new course plus you'll receive an extra 72 brand new recipes.

This course will give you a comprehensive list of raw materials that you can use to make your own skin care ranges for dry, mature and/or sensitive skin.

9.45 - 5.15pm

Note: If you already have bought a copy of The Aromantic Guide to Unlocking the Powerful Health & Rejuvenation Benefits of Vegetable Oils before you attend the Course, the price you paid for the book will be deducted off your course fee.

Who will benefit from attending this course?

  • Beauty therapists/salons/aromatherapists who want to create their own range of products to sell to the public.
  • Aromatherapists, beauticians, body work therapists, estheticians (US), cosmetologists (US) and others who work in the field of healing or complementary medicine who want to enhance the service they provide to their clients with an add-on service of providing tailor-made products.

  • Those aspiring to/already sell natural cosmetics to the public, either full or part-time.

Note: this course can be attended without first having to attend any of our other courses.

Course Contents:

NB: The course material and recipes for this course have been developed by Kolbjorn Borseth and successfully been taught twice in London.

To start with, the facilitator takes an hour to go through the theory part of the causes, care methods, what to avoid for oily skin types plus specific natural cosmetic raw materials for use in products for oily skin types.

After a tea break groups of students make the following products for oily skin: 2 types of body oils; 2 types of face oils; 2 types of face serums.

We the have an hour long theory session on raw materials for combination skin, where the facilitator discusses how to care for this skin type and what to avoid. We also teach about cosmetic raw materials that can be used for the whole face, as well as solely for the T-zone – also which products to use for the T-zone. In this section we also discuss using masks, wraps, gel masks, etc. Students are given a comprehensive brochure of 14 A4 page format containing specific face oil recipes for the whole face (9 recipes) or T-zone only (8 recipes); specific face oil serums for the whole face (8 recipes) or T-zone only (8 recipes); making a total of 33 recipes.

After lunch, groups of students make the following products for combination skin: 1 type of face oil for whole face; 1 type of face oil for T-zone only; 1 type of face oil serum for whole face; 1 type of face oil serum for T-zone only. .

After a tea break there is a theory session on how to treat scar tissue and stretchmarks. We define 6 types of scar tissue and the causes of stretchmarks. We then talk about the different treatment methods for each type of scar tissue and how to use megadoses of vitamins on these marks. We also give you different aroma blends and a recipe for a gel to heal open wounds. When we make treatment oils we distinguish between old and new scars and we give recipes for different scar types.

Then groups of students make the following treatment products for scars and stretchmarks: 2 treatment oils for old scars; 1 treatment oil for new scars; and 1 treatment oil for stretchmarks. Students receive a comprehensive 18-page A4 brochure with 25 different recipes.

NOTE: Before learning how to make a product Kolbjorn will discuss the benefits of the product and demonstrate the exact utensils and raw materials required. ALL raw materials and utensils are provided and students usually work in groups of 4 per table. A printed hand-out of the recipe and technique is also given to each student at the beginning of every demonstration. This enables the student to focus upon the 'hands-on' aspect of the session and ensures that each participant leaves with a complete set of notes and recipes for future reference.
