Healing Products Day

A One-Day course with Kolbjorn Borseth

Overview:

It is a combination of different aspects of courses already held in the UK. It combines a shortened eczema section from Aromantic’s Intermediate Course in Natural Skin Care and a shortened psoriasis section from our Advanced Course and we’ll also cover aspects of our Spa Products 2 Course: the theory and practical of making acne and varicose vein treatment products.

It is a very intensive course during which we make professional healing products that can be for your own use, sold to your therapy clients, or sold commercially to the public. A comprehensive range of course materials are provided for each student and several products made during the practical sessions are for students to take home.

Who will benefit from attending this course?

  • As this is a course about making therapeutic and healing products, this course will benefit professionals who want to enhance their knowledge and make their own therapeutic products from scratch, either to sell to clients or the public. Herbalists, cosmetologists, estheticians and other holistic health professionals are all people who would most benefit from this course.
  • Homecrafters – individuals who may have their own skin problems or issues and may wish to make the products for their own use. They may also be interested in making healing products for their friends or family.

Note: this course can be attended without first having to attend any of our other courses.

Course Contents:

We start the day with a combined theory part: how to heal both eczema and psoriasis, including baths, herbs, essential oils, mineral treatment, compresses/poultices, fasting, acid-alkaline balance.

The teacher will demonstrate how to make a compress for both eczema and psoriasis. After a break, the teacher demonstrates how to make 2 types of creams, 1 for eczema and 1 for psoriasis. After dividing the students up into groups of up to 4 per table, students make the 2 creams, one of which will contain herbs. Each student will take away 2 types of creams to try on themselves, family or clients.

After lunch students make acne treatment products, namely 2 types of acne treatment gels. Students also receive comprehensive lists of active raw materials for acne-prone skin/blackheads/pimples and recipes for 3 types of acne cream treatments, as well as 2 clay treatment recipes.

After a short break, we talk about an active (e.g. megadoses of vitamin) enhanced skin oil treatment programme for acne-prone skin/blackheads/pimples. Students then make 4 types of oil blends: 2 out of a choice of 5 everyday acne treatment oils; 1 out of a choice of 6 two-week acne vitamin cure oils (2 out of the 6 blends help to dry out pimples); 1 out of a choice of 6 intensive care drop treatments that can only be used in very small quantities under therapist/esthetician/cosmetologist supervision.

Finally, students make 2 types of varicose vein gels, which have a good success rate since Kolbjorn developed these recipes in the early 1990s in Sweden.

The day is completed with a Questions & Answers session and the handing out of certificates.

NOTE: Before learning how to make a product Kolbjorn will discuss the benefits of the product and demonstrate the exact utensils and raw materials required. ALL raw materials and utensils are provided and students usually work in groups of 4 per table. A printed hand-out of the recipe and technique is also given to each student at the beginning of every demonstration. This enables the student to focus upon the 'hands-on' aspect of the session and ensures that each participant leaves with a complete set of notes and recipes for future reference.
